Edwards Communities’ Around Town Picks: Fun Things to Do This September

Columbus and central Ohio are getting ready for the Fall season to begin! In September we have a unique mix of end-of-summer activities, combined with festive events that put you in the spirit of fall. So whether you live in Columbus, are hosting a business event in the area, or are here visiting relatives, we invite you to sample all that our city has to offer!

Edwards Communities has put together a list of events we think you shouldn’t miss this month. Here are our “Around Town Picks” for September:

Columbus Greek Festival – September 1-4 at The Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral

The 45th Annual Columbus Greek Festival celebrates the culture and ancestry of Greece and the Orthodox Christian faith. Cathedral tours, music, dancing, shopping and Greek cuisine are just some of the fun activities offered at the festival. Learn more on their website.

Ohio State Football – Saturdays – Home & away

Nothing says Fall like Ohio State Football! The Buckeye’s season is in full swing this month, with three home games taking place on September 9, 16 and 23! Even if you can’t snag tickets, there are plenty of places to tailgate in Columbus and cheer our Buckeyes to a win, including Edwards’ private club, The Barn! Go Bucks!

Columbus Crew – weekly in September – MAPRE Stadium

The Columbus Crew, Ohio’s Major League soccer club, has home matches on September 10, 16, 23 and 30 at MAPFRE Stadium. Check out their website for details and to purchase tickets.

Country Living Fair – September 15-17, Ohio History Center’s Ohio Village

This year’s Country Living Fair promises great shopping, delicious food, seminars, demonstrations and a chance to meet editors of Country Living magazine!

My Fair Lady starring Cabot Rea – September 15-24, Northland Performing Arts Center, 411 Tamarack Blvd.

Former NBC-4 anchor Cabot Rea stars as professor Henry Higgins, who takes a bet from Colonel Pickering that he can transform unrefined Eliza Doolittle into a duchess and fool everyone into thinking she really is one.

Night Moves for March of Dimes – September 15, Washington Blvd. near COSI and Genoa Park (333 W. Broad Street, Columbus)

Night Moves is an exciting nighttime 5K or 5-mile glow run through Downtown Columbus and the heart of the Scioto River trails. Participants will receive a glow necklace, blinker, t-shirt and runner bag, and a block party at the finish line. Proceeds benefit March of Dimes’ research and programs.

Blooms & Butterflies – Through September 17, Franklin Park Conservatory

Check out the diverse array of hundreds of butterflies as they soar overhead and bask on nearby plant life.

Columbus Oktoberfest – September 22-24 at The Ohio Expo Center

Boasting the Bavarian celebration, Columbus Oktoberfest offers a 4-mile run, craft beer and wine garden, live music, delicious food, Kinderplatz area for children, and much more!

Dublin Pet Fair – September 24, Coffman Park Pavilion

This signature event of Dublin Pet Charities Inc., will feature a parade of rescues, contests and pet demonstrations. There will be adoptable pets from more than 30 rescues around Central Ohio. The event is free to attend, but vendors will available to provide pet microchips and medical testing for a nominal fee. All the money raised that day will benefit the animal rescues that attend.

These are just a few of the fun events offered in September in our exciting city! You can learn about other events by visiting local events websites such as Experience Columbus and Columbus Underground.
