Columbus and the central Ohio area continues to offer fun events, festivals, concerts and entertainment in August! So if you’re a resident of this wonderful city, hosting out of town guests, or are here on extended business, we invite you to sample a taste of what our city has to offer!

We’ve compiled a short list of events we think you shouldn’t miss! Here are Edwards Communities’ “Around Town” Picks for August:

Ohio State Fair – through 8/6 at the Ohio Expo Center & State Fair

The 164th Ohio State Fair continues through August 6. This year’s activities and exhibits offer interactive educational displays, sporting competitions, kids’ entertainment, helicopter rides, and free stage entertainment. Over 200 food vendors and a Midway full of rides will keep you entertained and offer a variety of traditional fair food options.

Dublin Irish Festival – August 4-6 in Dublin

Celebrating its 30th year, the Dublin Irish Festival is the largest three-day Irish Festival on the planet. More than 100,000 guests are expected to attend this year’s event, and will enjoy 65 acts by over 535 performers on seven stages.

The 7th Annual Columbus Food Truck Festival — August 18-19 at the Scioto Mile

This year’s festival at its new location on the Scioto Mile will feature over 70 Ohio food trucks, live music on two stages, games, and arts and crafts for all ages.

WAG! — August 19, Prairie Oaks Metro Park, Hilliard

WAG! is a fun, free and family-friendly festival for people and their dogs. Complete with trails, lakes, and booths containing dog-related products, it’s a full day of celebrating our canine-human friendships. It also brings dog-serving rescue groups and organizations together to help Ohio dogs in need.

Columbus Summer Beeriest — August 25-26, Express Live!

The 8th annual beerfest celebrates hundreds of craft beers from over 130 breweries from down the street and around the country.

The Grandview Hop, August 26, Grandview Avenue

The Grandview Hop, hosted by the Columbus Young Professionals Club and Destination Grandview, is a half-mile stretch of Grandview Avenue that offers live music, local shopping, art, delicious food and fun activities. This summertime street market and evening stroll takes place the last Saturday of the month during summer and is always free.

Columbus Clippers — all month long, Huntington Park

Our very own baseball team has 17 home games this month against Indianapolis, Toledo, Rochester and Pawtucket. Visit their website for details and to order tickets!

The Ohio State Buckeye Football — August 31 at Indiana

On the very last day of the month our beloved Buckeyes will kick off their season against the Indiana Hoosiers! Although the game will be played at Memorial Stadium in Bloomington, there will be plenty of places here in Columbus to tailgate and cheer our Buckeyes on to a win, including Edwards’ private club, The Barn! Go Bucks!
