Edwards Communities’ Around Town Picks – Fun Things to Do this January

The busy festivities of the holidays may be over, but that doesn’t mean the fun times have stopped! Columbus has lots of exciting events and activities planned for our residents and visitors. So whether you want to venture out into nature or stay warm in the comforts of the temperature-controlled indoors, our city of Columbus has something for you.

 

Edwards Communities has put together a list of events we think you shouldn’t miss! Here are our “Around Town Picks” for January:

 

Magic & Mystery, January 6, Studio One, Riffe Center

World class Astonishment Artist Mat LaVore will provide 90-minutes of spellbinding magic, mind reading and hypnosis that will keep you on the edge of your seat. Get your tickets here.

 

Ohio Chinese Lantern Festival, Now through January 7, Ohio State Expo Center

If you didn’t get a chance to visit this festival last month, you have through the first week in January to attend! The Ohio Chinese Lantern Festival features new light sculptures, exciting performances and cultural experiences for the whole family. Visit their website to buy tickets.

 

Columbus Blue Jackets – January 7, 12, 18, 30, Nationwide Arena

Our Columbus Blue Jackets have four home games this month against the Florida Panthers, the Vancouver Canucks, the Dallas Stars and Minnesota Wild! Visit their website for the full schedule and to buy tickets!

 

Phantom of the Opera – January 3-14, Ohio Theatre

This new production of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s The Phantom of the Opera retains the beloved story and score, but includes exciting new special effects, lighting designs and choreography.

 

The Pancakes & Booze Art Show, January 19, Strongwater Food & Spirits

It’s not your ordinary art show….The Pancakes & Booze Art Show offers you just that —pancakes and booze —along with live musicians and/or DJs, live painting, body painting and lots of fun all while showcasing the talents of local artists.

 

Disney on Ice – January 24-28, Nationwide Arena

Disney on Ice presents, “Reach for the Stars” and features your favorite Disney characters such as Elsa, Olaf, Ariel, Rapunzel, Belle and many more.

 

Cinch World’s Toughest Rodeo – January 20, Nationwide Arena

This popular rodeo returns to Columbus this year and features bull riding, saddle bronco riding, and bareback riding. Cowgirls will compete in the Women’s Barrel Racing and Manu Lataste, the only professional bull jumper in the US, will be performing. After the rodeo, special guest William Michael Morgan will be in concert.

 

Free Winery Tour – Through January 27, Wyandotte Winery

The first and oldest winery in Central Ohio is giving free tours every Saturday at 12:30 and 3:30 p.m. Signup online.
