We’re in the dog days of summer in Columbus Ohio, and the month of July continues to offer a variety of fun activities for Columbus residents and visitors! Enjoy the warm weather this month and find a concert, festival or outdoor entertainment option that is interesting to you!

Rhythm on the River: The Seldom Scene – 7/14 – Bicentennial/Galbreath Park
Engaging musical acts, an outdoor production of BalletMet and a variety of tasty food trucks will make this a must see event this summer. This year’s performance features The Seldom Scene and Michael Cleveland & Flamekeeper. Rhythm on the River is free, and proceeds from the food truck sales benefit the Columbus Recreation and Park department’s free food programs.
14th Annual German Village Art Crawl – 7/15 – German Village
At the German Village Art Crawl presented by CoverMyMeds, 2,500 villagers and downtown residents turn garages into art galleries. Local food and beverage vendors will be offering sips and samples, local musicians will perform, and individual artists will exhibit and sell their work.
Dennis DeYoung and the Music of Styx – 7/20 at the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium
Dennis DeYoung and the Music of Styx takes the stage at Water’s Events Park, and will be performing their greatest hits from the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s. Come listen to your old favorites such as “Lady,” “Come Sail Away,” and “Mr. Roboto.”
The LEGO Batman Movie – 7/21 at Columbus Commons
This kid-friendly family event is part of the Picnic With the Pops and Popcorn Pops and will feature the Lego Batman Movie, Columbus Commons Inflatable Zone and a musical performance from the Columbus Symphony Orchestra. The movie is free, and tickets to the inflatable zone and concert are available for purchase.
Jazz & Rib Fest – 7/21 – 7/23 at the Scioto Mile
Attendees of this three-day, downtown Columbus tradition listen to continuous jazz music by local and international musicians while savoring the best ribs from around the country. Enjoy hot ribs and cool jazz on three different stages all weekend long!
The Color Run – July 22, Downtown Columbus Nationwide Arena District
Run, smile, laugh and get doused with paint at this year’s Color Run benefitting the Ronald McDonald House. The event will start with its own prerace party with music, dancing, stretching and giveaways, and will conclude just in time for early bird access to the Jazz & Rib Fest!
Ohio State Fair – 7/26 – 8/6 at the Ohio Expo Center & State Fair
The 164th Ohio State Fair begins at the end of this month and takes us through the first week of August! Activities and exhibits will offer interactive educational displays, sporting competitions, kids’ entertainment, helicopter rides, and free stage entertainment. Over 200 food vendors and a Midway full of rides will keep you entertained and offer a variety of traditional fair food options.
Columbus Clippers – all month long – Huntington Park
Our very own baseball team has 12 home games this month against Indianapolis, Norfolk, Buffalo and Syracuse. Visit their website for details and to order tickets!
The OSU Marching Band – 7/28 at Columbus Commons
“The Best Damn Band in the Land” will be performing with the Columbus Symphony at this year’s Picnic with the Pops.
